SWFO-L1 Mission Launch
We successfully launched on 09/24/25!
From its vantage point approximately one million miles away, the Space Weather Follow On Lagrange 1 (SWFO-L1) satellite will continuously monitor the Sun and the near-Earth environment for space weather activity. The 24/7 data provided by SWFO-L1 will offer critical lead time, enabling operators to take precautionary actions to protect vital infrastructure, economic interests, and national security on Earth and in space.
The Nextage team are essential members of the NASA SWFO-L1 Mission Operations Support Team (MOST) and provide engineering, operations, and support services to the Office of Space Weather Observations onsite at the NOAA Satellite Operations Facility (NSOF) in Suitland, Maryland.
This support spans from prelaunch, launch, and early operations through 6 months of checkout, calibrations and other commissioning activities that culminate in a fully functional observatory providing important science data to the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). Following this, SWFO-L1 is handed over to the NOAA Operations team to operate for the next 5 years (with enough fuel for 10 years!)
